The Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER) is looking for a Policy Adviser on Freight and Passenger issues to join their team in Brussels.
CER Mission
CER’s role is to represent the interests of its members on the EU policy-making scene, in particular to support an improved business and regulatory environment for European railway operators and railway infrastructure companies.
Purpose of the role:
Reporting to the respective Senior Policy advisers, the job holder’s main responsibility will be to contribute to the development of CER positions on a variety of freight and passenger transport-related issues.
Key responsibilities:
- monitor policy developments and manage several policy issues;
- strengthen the association’s relationship with partners in Brussels;
- manage internal working groups;
- develop position papers and write reports;
- represent CER in meetings of partner associations;
- manage conferences’ & workshops’ organisation related to passenger & freight activities;
- contribute to the weekly internal newsletter.
Required skills and qualifications:
Candidates must be able to clearly demonstrate relevant skills for the job and fulfil the following requirements:
- a university degree, preferably in European affairs, economics, management, transport;
- at least 4-5 years of professional experience in EU affairs (ideally in rail or in transport);
- full proficiency in English and excellent writing skills in English;
- a keen interest in European (rail) passenger and freight transport policy and in rail customer needs;
- excellent organisational skills;
- the ability to work independently and as part of a multinational team ;
- pragmatic and problem solving approach (“can do” approach);
- an entrepreneurial outlook, with an ability to meet tight deadlines and handle last minutes requests
