Retail Shop Assistant [United Kingdom]


 

We are excited to welcome an enthusiastic part time Retail Shop Assistant to our Petts Wood shop. You will play a crucial role in supporting our trading operation and maximising potential revenue from customers.

Answering to the Shop Manager and Area Retail Manager you will be providing cover in the absence of the Shop Manager with responsibility for our Volunteers. Maximising income and providing excellent customer service and retail standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To safely and efficiently open, run and close the shop in the absence of the Shop Manager.
  • Maintain excellent standards of customer service providing guidance and support to volunteers as required.
  • Assist in the moving and handling of stock using best practice methods.
  • To process and re-stock the shop as required to agreed stock levels and merchandising guidelines ensuring all saleable goods are of the expected quality, standard and priced to store guidelines.
  • Using EPOS systems and online databases to process customer details and gift aid data for the Retail Gift Aid scheme.
  • To act as the appointed person during emergency situations, recording accidents and incidents, communicating all information to the Shop Manager ensuring continuity and continued good management of the shop undertaking any training necessary.

Requirements:

  • Previous retail experience, preferably within a charity shop.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to adapt to changing workloads and manage time effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Frequently required to carry out moving and handling tasks using safe working practices or applicable aids as necessary.

Hours:

13.5 hours a week comprising 6 hours on Sunday and 7.5 hours on a changeable rota between Monday to Saturday.
