Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-performance, scalable, and fault-tolerant data processing systems using Scala, Apache Flink, and Spark.
- Write high-quality, well-structured, and maintainable code that follows best practices and coding standards.
- Conduct code reviews, unit tests, and integration tests to ensure code quality, reliability, and performance.
- Continuously improve and optimise data processing pipelines to enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and debug production issues to ensure system reliability and uptime.
- Mentor and coach junior developers to help them grow and develop their skills.
Must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computing related, Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in software development using Scala, Apache Flink, and Spark
- Strong knowledge of functional programming concepts, algorithms, and data structures.
- Experience with distributed computing and parallel processing using Apache Flink and Spark.
- Experience with stream processing and real-time data pipelines.
- Experience with data modelling, database design, and SQL.
- Experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to have and/or interested in:
- Experience with Quakus
- High performing distributed systems
- Experience tracking performance issues and memory leaks
- Apache Cassandra, Apache Kafka and Elasticsearch
