Job Title – Head of Education

Pay - £49,500 p.a. + £750 Homeworking Allowance p.a + £3,777 p.a. London Weighting (if living in a London borough)

Hours - 35 Hours per Week

Contract - Permanent

Location – Home based with travel required

The Head of Education is a key post within TACT, managing a team of education specialists providing support to our social work teams and foster carers. The Head of Education will ensure that all children and young people looked after by TACT receive appropriate education for their needs and abilities in order for them to fulfil their academic and personal potential. You will be joining an established service but with opportunity to develop it further to expand its reach and impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading on the review and implementation of relevant policies and procedures to improve educational outcomes for our children and young people;
  • Recruiting, managing, and monitoring regional education advisors and tutors;
  • Providing advice, guidance and training to managers, social work staff, carers and families on educational issues;
  • To intervene where educational provision is a cause for concern and local staff require expert support to resolve issues:
  • To advise and support all stakeholders on educational and related issues such as Pupil Premium regulations, school transport, personal / health care education plans, and similar.

The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in UK education law and working within a social care / children's education services setting. Qualified teacher status is essential as well as having achieved a management qualification and a willingness to travel throughout the UK.
